St Edwards Fellwalkers is an all-weather, all-year round walking club, which walks every other Saturday.
The Club is affiliated to the Ramblers.
Despite its name, St. Edwards Fellwalkers has never had a religious affiliation. The Club originated from a boxing club which was set up in the mid-1960’s for the youth of Whitley Bay based in the gymnasium of the former St Edward’s School. The first walking programme was in 1971, and the walking has continued even since even when the boxing club ceased to exist. See our History if you would like to know more.
Being based on Tyneside we are surrounded by fantastic and varied walking country: Northumberland, Durham, Cumbria, the Lake District, Scotland, and the Yorkshire Dales and Moors.
There is usually a choice of five walks, which vary in distance and height to cater for the individual walker’s requirements. See Choosing Your Walk for details.
The Club is run by a committee of volunteers consisting of a number of officers with specific roles and committee members. Officers of the committee can be contacted via the Contact Us page.
