Northumberland

Discover Northumberland’s Untamed Wilderness.

Northumberland offers an unrivalled variety of scenery and terrain, making it a favourite for our walking club. From the expansive moorland of the Cheviot Hills to the peerless beaches of the Northumberland coast, from the vast Kielder Forest and reservoir, to the scenic Tyne Valley, and the iconic Hadrian’s Wall, a world-famous reminder of Roman Britain, this county has something for everyone.

As a walking group, we explore dramatic coastal paths with castles like Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh standing guard over the horizon. Inland, Kielder Reservoir and Forest provide a tranquil escape, while the Cheviots’ rolling heather-clad hills offer solitude and breath-taking views. At the end of each adventure, we gather in welcoming market towns such as Alnwick, Hexham, or Wooler, or relax in picturesque villages like Alwinton and Alnmouth.
